2017 hasn’t been good to everyone, BUT as a unit, we’ve had a successful year.



Rain Darko x The Holdover – Even though it was Christmas 2016 technically, we’re still going to count that as a 2017 success. Rain Darko’s first project, ‘The Holdover’ made way to our ears with 13 blessings total. As we wait for Darko’s next project, I guess we will be hearing him spaz on his recent features with Camp Phire Connection and friends.

Ressy B x All I Ever Knew – ALL SUMMER 17, this is all we talked about. Ressy B came with his third mixtape ‘All I Ever Knew’. If you have NOT heard this project, I suggest you hop onto Bandcamp’s website and download this mixtape. I don’t want to spoil it for you if you haven’t heard it yet, but I will assure you…. It is fire flamez!!!

Whisper x 4ever Edition – Whisper is such a cheeseball! The 4ever Edition of TNB4 also dropped this year, with 6 additional songs, making the project 38 tracks total. The additional songs were those that “didn’t make the cut” and a few newly recorded tracks. I don’t know what you’ve been doing with your life if you haven’t heard #TNB4, it’s been out since, like, “4ever”. You like what I did there?? Eh, anyway, and just as we are almost sick and tired of this mixtape, Whisper announces new music for 2018 – like, it’s pretty much guaranteed. We are excited for this!

Quick #TNB4 Breakdown

With people asking a crapload of questions, we at WhisperMuzik decided to drag Whisper down here to get some of these questions answered. We wrote down 10 frequently asked questions and had Whisper pull 5 of them out the hat.

FAQ: What is #TNB4 about? And why is it named #TNB4?

Whisper: Firstly, I think you have to have a deeper understanding of what it is in order to give it a name that is appropriate. I named it 'Tha Nu Beginnin' 4' because it's the 4th one I did based on my new beginnings. The spelling matters to me, so quick breakdown:

Tha - urban spelling of the
Nu - frequency
Beginning - new or inexperienced

. . . And this is the 4th installment.

The TNB Series is mostly about my personal experiences, whereas other songs I make may not necessarily reflect that.

Q: Did you spell it "Tha" because you think it's cool?
A: I spelled it that way so you'll have an idea on what type of environment I came out of. What's cool? Perception.

Q: Why so many songs?
A: So, I've probably made about 150 tracks for this 1 mixtape, only 38 were good enough to elaborate the story well enough. There were so many things I wanted to touch on but as I got older, some things I didn't really care to speak on and I needed to finish the stories and cliffhangers purposely left on TNB3.

Q: What's your favorite song on TNB4? And why?
A: Um, "Whatchu Talkin' Bout". Second to that is "F.T.A." "Whatchu Takin' Bout" is my favorite because: 1, the title is asking a "bout" to elaborate; 2, injustice among Blacks in America is the most talked about; 3, most folks do not register the connection between the first and second verse - which is the "waking up" process; basically, it was the mini version of the story of how I actually found enlightenment. I make an effort to dress songs to sound a certain way because I don't want to be obvious all of the time. "F.T.A." is a perspective response to "Whatchu Talkin' Bout" - like, imagine a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other; one of them (angel or devil)  talking is how FTA came about.

Q: Would you consider yourself a conscious rapper?
A: I'm conscious as a person, not as a rapper. I only rap about the things I'm familiar with, so that's why you get the "conscious lyrics" at times.

Q: What's one thing that you wish you had not started in your music that you still do?
A: So, because I'm always seeking knowledge (filtered), the people around me usually want me to have more "conscious" lyrics, yet I love being ratchet. I guess, to answer the question, appealing to people. Even though I know better, I like clowning. Turn up! I value the opinions of many, I don't want to disappoint however some just can't separate the art from the artist. I feel weird when I can connect on so many levels, and not music because folk on their high horse. It's just a song to me, but the word choice and the vibrations blah, blah, yeah...
